Gas Fireplace Options

Gas Fireplaces enable homeowners to add the comfort and warmth of a traditional fireplace to just about any room in their house! Gas Fireplace Inserts are used to modify an older wood burning fireplace to a gas fireplace. The fireplace is inserted into the existing fireplace opening and then uses the existing venting system to run up and outside of the house. One drawback of a gas fireplace insert is that the venting needs to be vented outside of the house in an area away from the fireplace. The venting needs to be located in such a way so the homeowner can vent the fireplace without disturbing the occupants of the room.
There are several types of gas fireplaces to choose from. These include, electric, coal, propane and natural gas. Some inserts come with a matching burner. Some inserts have a control knob that is located right below the mantle. Some other styles of fireplaces that use a traditional wood burning fireplace produces more heat than a new gas fireplace. This heat is usually enough to adequately heat the room and some homeowners may need to increase the space in front of the fireplace to accommodate the increased heat.
The main difference between a vent-free and vented fireplaces is that a vent-free fireplace has no connection to the outside atmosphere and ventless gas inserts require a connection to the outside venting system. Most homes have an open vent system that allows any gases or fumes from cooking to escape outside the house. Gas logs are vented to the outside by having a connected external vent. Natural gas logs require a connection to the ventless gas fireplace's chimney.
When vent-free gas fireplaces and wood masonry fireplaces are compared, there is a significant price difference. The vent-free fireplace insert heats the room directly and does not require venting. Wood masonry fireplace inserts require venting and have to be vented to the outside. A gas fireplace insert may heat the room more efficiently than a wood masonry fireplace because it does not require a connection to the outside air.
You can add heat to gas fireplaces in several ways. You can install a gas fireplace insert that comes with a built-in heater. You can also purchase heat exchangers that will allow you to add warm air directly into your gas fireplace or you can purchase an appliance that will regulate the temperature of the air coming into your room. This allows you to increase or decrease the warmth settings of your gas fireplace as needed.
Gas fireplaces can be great additions to any home because they offer clean heating and also have few combustion byproducts. They are easy to use and can be used year round regardless of the weather. There are many designs available on gas fireplaces and most are made of stainless steel to avoid corrosion. These devices can offer you a better quality of heat and can be a more cost effective way to provide heat. Gas fireplaces come with several styles of heating and some have flames that will look like burning candles.
